GREAT SPRING BREAK ACTIVITY for MENTORS!

Youth will learn to use a survey on counting alcohol and tobacco ads and looking for drug related products (glass pipes).  Then, using their keen observation and survey skills, teams of one adult and 2 youth will stop at retail stores to gather the truth about advertising.

The teams will visit between 10-15 stores in about two hours. Teams will have a chance to win fabulous prizes for their participation and completion of the surveys.  Lots of pizza, snacks and soda provided!

Put together a team of three –(2 youth and 1 adult driver)- to join us on Saturday, May 2nd from 10 AM to 4 PM at ESD 112 for an exciting day of action and outreach.

Mentoring and Businesses:

Thousands of businesses across America and in Washington are offering mentoring as a means to provide support for local youth. In the process, they find their own employees benefit as much as the youth they serve. In just one hour each week, during the work day at a local school or in the community, these mentors help improve the lives of the young people who will one day join the workforce.

How can the CCMRT help businesses?

The CCMRT is made up of mentor program coordinators willing and ready to:

• Identify mentoring programs in need of mentors
• Assistance in matching mentors and youth at the assigned programs
• Offer ongoing support, technical assistance, and evaluation tools to assure the effective mentoring initiative
• Train and prepare mentors to work with youth
